Local Walks From The Cottage
Local walks in and around the village close to the cottage you have a few round walks ranging from 1 miles to 8 miles with views over the amber valley and out to the peak district.
- Walk 1 is approximately 1.6 miles with part by a shallow river
- The walk takes about an hour and has a downhill section through fields with the return up an old bridal way which was once the main driveway to the private stately home “Ogston Hall” on the opposite side of the river which you can see throughout the walk. I would say to walk down the field and do the route in a clockwise manor.
- Turn right out of the front door and walk up the village on the left-hand site
- At the road junction continue straight on the left-hand side for about 100 mtr till you come to the Quarry Farm.
- You will see the old drive way to Ogston Hall which is a bridal way go through the gates and follow the lane down the hill
- Part way down on the left is a stile to take the route down the field then follow the map attached or go and explore

Other views on the walk

- Walk 2 is approximately 4.5 miles the walk takes in Brackenfield church and the Horse & Jockey in Wessington for lunch which is half way
- The walk takes about three to four hours and has a downhill section through fields with some road walking and four pubs on the route. The return will take you through the old bump mill in the valley passing two pubs you can sit outside on the remainder of the walk. I would do the route in a counter clockwise manor to get the views and church in first if your into looking at old churches that is.
